Red Circle Selects ProgramUpdated Friday October 12, 2018 by Red Circle Hockey.
The Red Circle Select Committee would like to welcome the 2018/2019 Head Coaching Staff!
Jack Ivanisevic- Select Novice Head Coach
Jack has been at Red Circle before and appreciates what the league stands for and its philosophy. He was on the Red Circle board of directors for five years. During this time, he served as the Secretary in his second year on the board and then had a three year term as the President of the league.
Jack was with Red Circle for over eight years in total. He coached and assisted many teams during that time. His first year he had coached a Bantam house league team which won the division championship that year. He then served as an assistant coach for the Tyke Selects for a year and from there he took on the role of Head Coach for the Bantam Selects for five years and was also the Head Coach of the Tyke Selects for another year in between.
In the past, Jack, his wife and a few friends had also started up a summer hockey program. This was for advanced skilled players from both coasts of Canada as well as players from the USA and South Western Ontario. The summer program consisted of teams from Pee Wee through Midget depending on the year of operation. Their summer program teams practiced throughout the summer months and entered tournaments to showcase the talent of the players to higher-level league teams. This gave those prospective teams an opportunity for one last look at players in game situations playing against other elite players.
Jack’s passion for hockey remains strong and his desire to coach again was sparked by watching his grandson play at Red Circle the past couple of years. He looks forward to being able to contribute to the Red Circle Select program again with his hockey knowledge and experience.
Joe Hogg-Atom Head Coach
Hello everyone I would like to tell you all about my history at Red Circle. I played at Red Circle as a child and I guess now is my time to give back.
I've been coaching in this league since my son (Joseph #15 of the 2017/18 team Canada house league novice champions,) was just starting to play hockey in the mite division. Since then I have coached Tyke winter, summer 5/5, Tyke winter, summer 5/5, Novice Selects, Novice winter, Novice Selects and currently I am coaching a 5/5 summer Atom team at the Western Fair. Not to mention the 3/3 tournaments that I have helped on the bench with. I will not be taking all credit for this as my partner in crime Justin Smith has been at my side since the beginning.
Robert Draper-Peewee Coach
Robert Draper, Coach Bob, is entering his fifth season as a coach within Red Circle. Coach Bob has a passion for hockey and helping develop young athletes by expanding their transferable skills on and off the ice. In the summer, he caddies and coaches within the Special Olympics golfing program. Aside from volunteering, Coach Bob has worked at London Life for the past six years within their Salesforce Enablement Team. On his free time, Coach Bob enjoys spending time poolside with friends and family while excitedly waiting for hockey season to begin.
Scott Navarro-Peewee Coach
I work as a Producer at Rogers TV (where I had previously volunteered for 5 years) producing coverage of local sports and events in London & area
I played Red Circle from Atom to Juvenile.
I was a goalie coach/trainer with the Bandits organization last year.
I've helped coach the goalies on Ryan and Bob's teams occasionally over the last few seasons
I'm on the board of South London Baseball and the London Sports Celebrity Dinner committee
Jason Ahrens-Bantam Coach
Jason is entering his ninth season as a Red Circle coach and his seventh year with the Select program. He is entering his third season with the Red Circle Board, serving on the Hockey Development and Select committees each year that he has been on the Board. He served as the Boyle Activity Council Chair or Vice Chair for eight years and when not at Stronach arena in the winter, he can often be found at Boyle with a water hose in his hand, flooding the outdoor rink there. He has been coach or assistant coach on fourteen different House League teams and has been coach or assistant coach on nine Select teams and helped out a bit on three other teams. With three boys playing hockey and his oldest one now reffing and timekeeping at Red Circle, Jason could drive to Stronach blind folded.
Darcy Wathen-Midget Coach
Darcy has been coaching multiple divisions at Red Circle for five years and has coached the Bantam Selects for the last two years. In that time, they won four tournaments. He is currently a member of the Red Circle Board and is on the Sponsorship Committee
