FAQ Related to the Current COVID-19 Situation

The Red Circle Executive and the Board of Directors has created this FAQ page to help assist you with your many unanswered questions about last season and the upcoming 2020/2021 season. We fully understand and appreciate your uncertainty in regards to the outstanding issues, and we are working diligently on your behalf to resolve as many of these situations as possible while maintaining safe practices as mandated by our governing bodies. Unfortunately, as the concerns created by the COVID-19 situation are ongoing, there are still many outstanding matters that may take some time to fully resolve. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
1. Will there be a refund due to the early end of the 2019/2020 season?

Refunds will not be issued due to the early completion of the 2019/2020 season. The refund, if applicable, would be minimal after all expenses and effects of the COVID-19 situation are considered. The Club incurs many expenses throughout the season that are not refundable, even when the season is cut short. The Board of Directors has agreed to reimburse parents and players in an alternate form by extending the early registration rate to August 23, 2020. This registration rebate alone would exceed the potential refund that may have been applicable.

2. Will there be hockey next season?

This has not yet been determined. Red Circle will rely on Public Health authorities and the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments to determine when it is safe to return to hockey activities. We are proceeding under the assumption there will be a 2020/2021 season.

3. Will I be refunded for the upcoming 2020/2021 season if it is cancelled?

There will be a full refund if the upcoming season is cancelled prior to the start of the season.

4. What do I do with my Red Circle team jersey and sponsor bar?

All coaches should be in possession of all team jerseys and sponsor bars. Coaches have been informed to remove the sponsor bars before washing the jerseys and they will drop off the jerseys when it is deemed safe to do so. That date will be conveyed by Red Circle.  If any player is in possession of a jersey, they are to remove the sponsor bar, wash the jersey and hang dry.  Players will be instructed to return the jersey to their coach when it is safe to do so.

5. What do I do with the Red Circle goalie equipment I borrowed?

All goalie equipment must be returned at a date to be determined. It is imperative that the equipment be kept in a safe place and not used for any reason other than Red Circle hockey (i.e. no road hockey, ball hockey, etc.).

6. What is Red Circle doing about trophy/year end award distribution?

Championship trophies for all Mite and Tyke teams, League Championship trophies for Novice through Juvenile teams finishing in first place and Individual Awards (Most Valuable Goalie, Most Valuable Player, Best Playmaker, Best Defenseman, Most Improved, Most Sportsmanlike) for successful recipients in Novice through Juvenile will be distributed at a time that is determined safe to do so. As Championship Weekend did not occur the remainder of the trophies cannot be awarded.

7. Will there be a Select program next year?

If it is determined safe to play hockey by the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments, then it is Red Circle Board of Directors’ plan to continue with the Select program.

8. Is registration open for the 2020/2021 season?

Registration is currently open at a reduced rate until August 23, 2020. See for more information.

9. Will the season start as usual by the end of September?

This has not yet been determined. Red Circle will rely on Public Health authorities, Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments, as well as the City of London Parks and Recreation to determine when it is safe to return to hockey.

10. When is the Coaches’ Appreciation Dinner for the 2019/2020 season?

Unfortunately, the Coaches’ Appreciation Dinner has been cancelled.

11. Will there be an A.G.M. (Annual General Meeting)?

The Red Circle Executive is looking at several possible contingencies for an A.G.M. which is typically held in April following Championship Weekend. All members will be updated when more information is available.

This process will be released with the information regarding the A.G.M. There are positions available and the Red Circle Board of Directors is always looking for new and eager people to play a role on its’ team! Remember, there is a substantial time commitment involved with Board positions.

13. Will there be a 50th anniversary celebration this year?

As this is Red Circles’ 50th anniversary, it was the Board of Directors’ intention to have a celebration at Stronach Arena on August 22, 2020. Unfortunately, this event has been put on hold however it is expected to be scheduled at a later date.
