Red Circle Families,
Although the announcement on Friday and changes to the Middlesex London Health Unit Order were favourable, there are still a number of items Red Circle must address prior to returning to the ice.
As we set our season plans in motion we focused on meeting the Provincial Regulations as set forth for Stage 3 and were successfully able to begin operations with City approval. With the latest revision of the order, below is where Red Circle will need to make changes in order to comply.
With these restrictions and limitations in mind, our only realistic option is to reduce teams to a roster of 10. This will ensure we have space on the benches for games, space on the ice for coaches during a practice, and ultimately comply with the order. This will require a fair bit of alterations to the rosters and although we will try to maintain special requests this may not be possible in all situations. We ask that you please remember the main goal should be to get kids back on the ice.
We have and will be working hard at this for the next few days with the intention to restart Monday November 2, 2020. New Rosters and Schedules will be posted prior and communicated when they are ready.
With the addition of a few new teams we will be looking for extra coaches. If you were not assigned to a team, or are willing to move to a new team please let us know. We will have a goalie shortage in both Atom and Pewee divisions, should there be someone interested in becoming a goalie please reach out (we do provide equipment) and we will be asking the current Atom and Pewee goalies to help us cover games where the team does not have one. Your convenor will be in touch once we have details organized.
As you are aware the future for hockey and all sports at this time is very fragile given the rise of COVID-19 in parts of Ontario. With that, there could be more pauses or interruptions without notice. In addition, the spectator allowance within the City Facilities is also delicate and we must ensure as parents, coaches, players and officials that we all do our part to physically distance at the rink!
